Description
Aristoflex® AVC
Thickening • Gelling • Stabilizing • Elegant Skin Feel
Aristoflex® AVC is a versatile water-soluble polymeric thickener and gelling agent used to create smooth, elegant textures in a variety of cosmetic formulations. It is especially valued for producing lightweight gels, gel-creams, serums, lotions, and moisturizers with a silky, non-greasy sensory feel.
It is an excellent ingredient for handmade formulators looking to create products with a smooth appearance, easy application, and refined texture. Aristoflex® AVC can provide viscosity and structure without the heavy or sticky feel associated with some other thickeners.

Solubility
Water Soluble
Aristoflex® AVC is incorporated into the aqueous phase of cosmetic formulations and is primarily used to thicken and structure water-based products.
Suggested Usage
0.5–2%
The appropriate usage level depends on the desired viscosity and texture of the finished formulation. Lower levels can provide light viscosity enhancement, while higher levels can create thicker gel and gel-cream textures.
pH Stability
Aristoflex® AVC is generally stable between pH 4–9.
Formulations intended to remain below pH 4 for prolonged periods may experience viscosity loss due to polymer degradation. At pH levels above 9, ammonia may be released, so formulations should remain within the recommended pH range.
Formulation Considerations
Aristoflex® AVC is sensitive to electrolytes and high levels of salts. Certain surfactant systems and ingredients containing significant amounts of salts may reduce its viscosity and performance.
Hydrolyzed proteins can also contain salts, which may result in a reduction of viscosity when combined with Aristoflex® AVC. Formulators should therefore evaluate compatibility when combining this polymer with protein ingredients, electrolytes, or high-salt systems.
For best performance, use Aristoflex® AVC in suitable leave-on cosmetic formulations and test the complete formulation for viscosity, stability, and compatibility.
