Simply customize with your choice of lip-safe oils, pigments, micas, and flavour oils to create your own signature gloss.
Recommended Formula
For a thick, glossy finish, start with:
-
Versagel Base: 85–90%
-
Cosmetic-grade oil: 10–15%
-
Lip-safe pigment or mica: 0.5–3%
-
Lip-safe flavor oil: 0.5–1%
Add your ingredients gradually and mix thoroughly until you achieve your desired consistency, color, and flavor.
Easy 100 g Formula
For a 100 g finished batch, a great starting formula is:
-
Versagel: 85 g
-
Cosmetic-grade oil: 12 g
-
Lip-safe pigment/mica: 2 g
-
Lip-safe flavor: 1 g
Total: 100 g
For a lighter, more natural-looking gloss, reduce the pigment. For a more intensely colored gloss, gradually increase the pigment while keeping within the supplier's recommended lip-use level.

Choosing Your Add-Ins
Oils
Cosmetic-grade oils can be added to help customize the feel and consistency of your gloss.
-
Castor Oil: High shine and a rich, glossy feel
-
Jojoba Oil: Smooth, lightweight slip
-
Sweet Almond Oil: Soft, lightweight feel
-
Vitamin E: Conditioning addition
Start with 10–15% oil and increase gradually if you want a thinner, more spreadable gloss. Adding too much oil may reduce the thickness of the Versagel.
Colour
Create clear, tinted, or highly pigmented glosses using lip-safe mica or cosmetic pigments.
Recommended starting amount: 0.5–3%, depending on the strength and type of pigment. Always follow the manufacturer's recommended usage rate and ensure the colorant is approved specifically for lip use.
Flavour
Add a lip-safe flavor oil to create deliciously scented and flavored glosses.
Recommended starting amount: 0.5–1%. Always follow the flavor supplier's recommended usage rate, as some flavor oils are more concentrated than others.
How to Mix
-
Measure the Versagel according to your desired batch size.
-
Add your chosen cosmetic-grade oil gradually and mix thoroughly.
-
Add your lip-safe pigment or mica and blend until the color is completely dispersed.
-
Add your lip-safe flavor and mix well.
-
Allow the gloss to settle before filling your tubes.
-
Fill into clean, suitable lip gloss packaging.
Important
Use only cosmetic-grade, lip-safe ingredients when customizing your gloss. Do not add water or water-based ingredients, as these can affect the stability and performance of the base.
Always check the manufacturer's recommended usage rates for your specific pigments, micas, oils, and flavor oils. Adding excessive amounts of oils, colorants, or flavor can change the thickness, texture, appearance, and stability of the finished product.
